A.J. Phillips Publishing was founded in 1964, by Andy J. Phillips, in the basement of his home in South Sioux City, Nebraska as a Shopper’s Guide free paper. Printing small jobs and flyers became a natural progression of the business. In 1971 the company moved out of the basement and into a small shop on Dakota Avenue in the downtown of South Sioux. Eventually they developed, printed and distributed “What’s Happening” magazine throughout the Siouxland area.

In 1972, Andy John Phillips, son of Andy J., took over the company and transformed it into what it is today. He saw the need for a quick printing shop and sold the magazine. He directed the company into the future by offering a full line of services including: 4 color offset printing, quick printing, promotional products, forms, business cards, graphic design, and Pack ‘n Ship services using Fedex and Speedee Delivery.
